Default Hi! I'm Sister J

Hi! I'm going by the name of Sister J on this post. I don't know why I picked that name, it just seemed to fit. I've checked into other chat sites, and none seemed to spark my attention. And I always see these really cool, colorful names, and I always try to come up with one. But, the ones I pick never seem to look right. So anyway, I always feel like somebody's big sister, or somebody's little sister, and my first name starts with a J. So walla...we now have Sister J!
Where am I at in my walk? That's a good question? I have gone from every extreme from running from the Lord to swearing I want to be his minister as a second career. I don't know. Maybe this site will help me with some of the answers, and getting to know all of you will help.
It's fun. Studying religion I mean. I like it. I get caught up in other things, like playing my clarinet, working, raising my 16 year old daughter, exercising, and taking care of my house. By the way, I am divorced. It was an ugly divorce. I couldn't have gotten through it without Jesus and the grace of God, or my friends and family. But if you depend on faith, faith can get you through some mighty large hurdles.
What specific faith am I? Again, I don't know. I was raised a Baptist. I studied Catholicism as an adult. I am a member of a Missionary church. Right now my daughter and I currently attend a Methodist church. I'm okay with my current lack of identity. I've learned to appreciate several religions and customs this way. Sooner or later I find out we were all kind of raised the same way regardless of what branch of Christianity we grew up with. My daughter, however, gets a little confused by it. I remember a few years ago she said, "Mommy, now what are we?" She goes to a Christian school and has met up with several who have attended the same church all their lives. So it is a little hard for her.
Anyway, it's nice meeting everyone! I hope to have some nice conversations and read about some interesting topics. God Bless!

Welcome, Sister J!

I call myself a BaptiPresbyCostal.

I also, grew up Southern Baptist, switched to the Presbyterian Church, and am now Foursquare, which is Full Gospel/Pentecostal. Foursquare reminds me a lot of my Baptist upbringing.

My children are all Foursquare. They don't remember too much about the Presbyterian Church, except for my oldest, and even she and her husband are Foursquare. Her husband is an Administrative Pastor at their Church.

I, also, enjoy learning about faith. You'll certainly experience a wide range on the Forum.

Again, welcome!

Blessings!

Jane

Jane & Sharon,

Thanks for the welcome! My computer crashed for awhile, so it took awhile to say Thanks!
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm just now really getting to read some of the messages and topics. I'm going to try and do Bible Study on Wednesday. Not sure if I can do it yet or not. But I think I'm really going to enjoy this site.

Sister J,
This is my first time and I was reading many of the letters and felt drawn to give my opinion.

Our personal relationship with the God of the universe is just that personal. Where we go to church is personal to our spiritual needs which God may change now and then. The labels mean very little but what matters a great deal is that they teach God's word undistorted. The body of beleivers become your family and the pastor the shephard. So it is very important to choose a wise shephard who won't lead the sheep... that' us ... in the wrong direction.

You can share with your daughter that you are developing a relationship that is real and even though invisible to her sight... God loves her and chose her before the foundation of the world. Eph 1:3-5
